Talk in Worship #2  - 10/25/2026

Welcome to our second “Because of God’s Great Mercy” Stewardship temple talk.

I wanted to share with you some ways that St Mark’s Lutheran Church proclaims God’s mercy and love locally and around the world, thanks to the generosity of your time, talents, and financial gifts.

Here are a few examples of how our congregation is sharing God’s mercy and love.

  • Within the church, you support many committees that serve to prepare worship services, bell and voice choir, online recorded and live-streaming worship services, puppet ministry, adult and youth Sunday School, provide fellowship, carry out the financial matters of the church, and maintain the facility and property to make our church a thriving, welcoming worship space, spreading God’s mercy and love to all those who enter.
  • Within the community, you prepare 150 meals and serve them at Center of Grace several times a year. You give your financial gifts to Mountain of Food and the Olathe Food Pantry to help the hungry.  You support Metropolitan Lutheran Ministries (MLM) with the Sack Lunch Program, Quilt Ministry, School Supplies, Coat & Glove drive, and the MLM Christmas Store.  You support Mission Southside with rice & bean packages and birthday kits. There are many other ministries that you support as well, including Stephen Ministry, Happy Bottoms, Habitat for Humanity projects, Youth Homeless Sleepout to collect warm clothing items, and College Blvd street clean-up.
  • Around the world, you proclaim God’s mercy and love by financially supporting Lutheran Disaster Response appeals for things like hurricanes, wildfires, and tsunamis. You also volunteer at Heart-to-Heart to pack basic health and hygiene supplies that are distributed around the world.

Thank you for your past giving, which has made this possible.  Please consider volunteering to serve or continuing to serve on a committee and supporting a ministry with your time, talents, and financial resources.

Thank you very much!

Blessings to you from the St Mark’s Stewardship Committee

 Bulletin Insert #2

"as each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace”

– I Peter 4:10

God has given us his mercy and love “in order that” we might proclaim through word and deed all that God has done in our lives. We do that individually as we live our faith in our daily lives. We also do that collectively in our congregation.

Our congregation proclaims God’s mercy and love within our walls through worship, through Christian education for our children and youth, through the many groups that meet to learn and serve. Our congregation proclaims God’s mercy and love in our community as we make a difference for good in the lives of people around us who are in need. Our congregation proclaims God’s mercy and love across our country and around the world as we support important ministries that are making a difference near and far.

Your giving to our congregation makes all of this possible. Because of you, we proclaim the mercy and love from God who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light.
