Talk in Worship #1 - 10/18/2026

Welcome to our first “Because of God’s Great Mercy” Stewardship temple talk. My name is Dave Mindrup, and I am the Stewardship Chair this year.  Debbie VanKempen and Vicki Larson are serving on the Stewardship Committee as well, and I appreciate their wisdom and support.

Over the next several weeks, our congregation is going to focus on financial stewardship, as well as time and talents Because of God’s Great Mercy.  We will reflect on the mission of St Mark’s Lutheran Church and the importance of the financial support of this mission by each member and friend of the congregation.

Our Mission Statement is as follows:

  • We are a Christ centered family welcoming, embracing, and nourishing all people.
  • We are a gathering of all ages for worship, fellowship, and service through the work of the Holy Spirit.
  • We are God’s active servants reaching out in our church, community, and world.

On Commitment Sunday on November 8th, each member and friend of St Mark’s Lutheran Church is going to be asked to do two things:

  • First, to increase your giving to the congregation by 1% of your household income. We will provide a chart so you can easily figure out how much this is.
  • Second, to consider making your gifts using an automatic fund transfer program that St Mark’s already has in place, if you don’t already have something set up.

St Mark’s website has new and easier ways to give online.  Look for information on our website for the giving options.

Thank you all in advance for your participation in making St Mark’s a thriving, welcoming church, spreading God’s Great Mercy and Love through your service, support, and financial gifts.

If you haven’t already done so, please read the Stewardship information that has been sent out via emails or shared on our website, and look for additional information over the next several weeks.

Please feel free to reach out to any one of the Stewardship Committee members with any questions that you have through this process.   Blessings to you from St Mark’s Stewardship Committee.

Bulletin Insert #1

“as each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace”

– I Peter 4:10

God’s mercy comes to you in countless ways. Our Lord Jesus is chief among these. It is through the love, mercy and forgiveness that is ours in our Lord Jesus that we can boldly claim to be God’s own people – not because of what we have done, but because of what God has done for us through his only Son.

God’s mercy also comes to you in many other ways. Among these are the material possessions you enjoy. They are gifts from God, but more than this, they are entrusted to you by God. The Bible teaches us that everything belongs to God. To be a steward is to be entrusted to care for some of what God owns in this world. That steward is you, entrusted to care for all that God has placed in your hands.

Because of God’s great mercy, we marvel at all we have received. Because of God’s Great Mercy, we think about how we will respond.
